Collaboration Breeds Community

Talking about the advantages of Google’s new Microsoft Office competitor, community pioneer Dan Shafer points out:

… the real warning for Microsoft and others who plan to play in this space. The expertise businesses are going to look for here isn’t so much application software design but understanding of and support for collaboration.

Giant Step Forward for the GoogleNet 

Where people can collaborate, they will form communities and as mentioned previously communities are essential for any organization.  Dan says the emergence of the meshverse

simply obsoletes companies doing business in the “old fashioned” island-like model of the current decade.

As Web Master and Director of Technology for Salon, Dan played a key role in getting community placed front and center in 1996 when Time named Salon “Web Site of the Year” – the guy’s got insight!
